AIR VICE MARSHAL HA NASHEHU |
Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar Nashehu was born on 02 September 1956,
to the family of Alhaji Abubakar Nashehu, at Fagge quarters of Kano.
He had his primary education from 1963 to 1968 and his secondary education
from 1963 to 1973.
He was admitted into the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of 22 Regular Course from 1977 to 1979. Immediately after graduation from NDA, he went to the USA for the Aircraft Maintenance Officers’ Course with the United States Air Force from July 1979 to March 1980.

He was commissioned to the rank of Pilot Officer with effect from 03 January 1980.
He immediately started practising his aircraft maintenance profession on the MiG-21,
Jaguar and L-29ZA aircraft in Kano as Flt Line Offr. From September 1980 to June 1981,
attended a Type-Rating Course on Alpha-Jet aircaft with Dornier in Germany. From September
1983
to December 1983, he was was deployed to Chad as a member of Nigerian contingent to African
Peace Keeping Force in Chad.
The senior officer served as Aide-de-Camp(ADC) to then Military Governor of
Kano State from January 1984 to September 1985. From January 1991 to December 1991, served in the ECOWAS
Monitoring Group(ECOMOG) in Sierra Leone.
He attended Senior Staff Course 18 from 1995 to 1996, following which he got
promoted to the rank of Wg Cdr. Subsequently he was posted to AFCSC as DS in
January 1997. From September 1999 to June 2000, was posted as SO1 Plans in the Directorate of
Air Engineering, HQ NAF. From July 2000, the senior officer was elevated to the
position of Deputy Director Air Engineering and not long after, he got promoted
to the rank of Gp Capt. From July 2001 to July 2005, he was Comd 401 Aircraft Maintenance
Depot Ikeja, Lagos.
The senior officer was then nominated to attend the National Defence College,
Islamabad Pakistan in July 2005, after which he was promoted to the rank of Air Cdre.
From July 2006 to August 2007, he was appointed Director of Research and Development at
HQ NAF. He also served as Comd 335 Base Services Group Kaduna from August 2007 to July
2008.
The senior officer was promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshal in 2008. In July
2008,
Air Vice Marshal Nashehu was appointed the Senior Air Staff Officer in Headquarters, Logistics
Command Lagos and was elevated to the post of Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command, Lagos.
AVM Nashehu has earned the medals of FSS, MSS, PSC(+) and DSS. He also has an MSc in Strategic
Studies, from Quadi-Azam University Islamabad, Pakistan.
AVM Nashehu is an associate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and also a member
of the National Institute of Management.
His hobbies include golf, jogging as well as watching nature and wild life especially on films.
AVM Nashehu is happily married with 4 children.
