AIR VICE MARSHAL GB ODESOLA
|
AVM Gabriel Babatunde Odesola was born on 25 February 1958 in Malumfashi, though he hails from Igbara-Oke in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State. He enlisted into the Nigerian Air Force on 5 July 1976. He is a Qualified Fighter Instructor Pilot.
The senior officer has attended several courses, some of which include the ab-initio Flying Training at 301 Flying Training School, Kaduna where he graduated as Best Academics and Best All-Round Student; Undergraduate Flying Training in the Royal Air Force Flying Training Schools in Cranwell and Valley in the United Kingdom; Instructor Pilot Course at Randolph Air Force Base in the United States where he graduated as the Top Graduate and the Junior Staff Course at AFCSC, Jaji where he again finished as the Best All-Round student.

He attended the Air Command and Staff College, USA and the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom, in addition to several seminars and workshops on air operations and leadership development. The senior officer holds a Master of Arts degree in International Studies from Kings College, London which he obtained at Merit level in April 2006.
AVM Odesola has held several appointments, some of which include Squadron Pilot at 64 Air Defence Group Makurdi; Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji; Chief Instructor at the Flying Training Wing at 303 Flying Training School, Kano; Commander NAF Detachment, Lungi, Sierra Leone and Assistant Director Defence Information at the Defence Headquarters. He was also the Group Operations Officer at 303 Flying Training School,Kano; Commander 99 Air Weapons School, Kainji, Commander 64 Air Defence Group, Makurdi; Deputy Director Plans at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force; College Secretary, National Defence College, Abuja, Director of Plans in Headquarters NAF
and Air Officer Policy and Plans at the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Abuja.
He is currently the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command Makurdi.
The senior officer is a winner of several awards at home and abroad. He is a 3-time winner of the Chief of Air Staff Commendation, in addition to one from the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command. His other decorations and awards are FSS, MSS, DSS, psc(+), rcds, MA. AVM Odesola loves meditation on the word of God and plays volleyball, billiards and snookers. He is happily married and blessed with 4 children.
