AIR UNIVERSITY INDUCTS THE CHIEF OF AIR STAFF AIR MARSHAL PETINRIN INTO THE INTERNATIONAL HONOURS ROLL
Recognition came to Nigeria when on Thursday 8 October, the United States Air Force Air University inducted the Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Petinrin into the prestigious International Honors Roll . The ceremony took place at the Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery Alabama USA.

Air Marshal Oluseyi Petinrin is one of many international officers who have received training and education at Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base and among the few who had distinguished themselves both during the course and afterwards. Air Marshal Petinrin attended the Air Command and Staff College in 1991 , and finished as the Best Overall Foreign Student . Now, the 1991 ACSC graduate and current Chief of Air Staff Nigerian Air Force has been honoured as a member of the prestigious International Honors Roll of the Air University. The Honors Roll recognizes international graduates of AU Professional Military Education courses who have distinguished themselves and gone on to become heads of service, ministers of defense, heads of state, or other high-level officials within their own countries.

According to Lt. Gen. Allen Peck, commander of Air University, one of the purposes of the Honor Roll is to recognize the international officers for their personal achievement, but also to inspire other officers and to foster international relationships.

The Honor Roll was established in 1988 by the Secretary of the Air Force and now includes 393 names of international officers who attended Air University schools and became military or civilian leaders. Commenting after the induction, Air Marshal Petinrin described the honor as an honour done to Nigeria and a recognition for the Nigerian armed forces. On his experience as a student in the Air University in 1991, AiR Marshal Petinrin said, "It has proven that it's a good education because I'm in (the) position that I'm in today." Air Marshal Petinrin was accompanied to the award ceremony by his wife Mrs Appolonia Petinrin. The occasion was also witnessed by , the Director of Supply Air Commodore B Akanbi, the Defence Attache Washington Group Captain SA Dambo and the Deputy Director Finance Group Captain CA Ogbeche.
