   Former Chiefs of Air Staffs
  Colonel W Timming (GAF) (1965-1966)
The second Commander of the NAF was Colonel W Timming, another GAF Officer. He took over from Colonel Kahtz on 23 November 1965.

Born in Germany on 4 October 1912, Colonel Timming like his predecessor was also a veteran of the Second World War.
He came to Nigeria as part of the GAFAG and helped to lay the foundation of the NAF under Colonel Kahtz.
He continued where Kahtz stopped until 18 January 1966 when the GAFAG withdrew from Nigeria.
Although he headed the NAF for barely three months, as part of the GAFAG, his role in the formation and nurturing of the NAF is indelible.
