Air Vice Marshal Sesan Isaac Awofodu was born on
7 July 1952 at Sagamu, Ogun State. He attended
St Paul’s Primary School, Offin, Sagamu and May
Flower Secondary School, IKene between 1959 and
1969. He joined the Nigerian Air Force in
January 1973 and was commissioned a Pilot
Officer in June 1975 after his Military training
Course at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.
PROMOTION LADDER
Pilot officer Sesan Isaac Awofodu
was promoted to the rank of Flying officer on 22
January 1977 and 4 years, latter, on 22 January
1981, he rose to the rank of Flight Lieutenant.
He became a Squadron Leader on 22 January 1987
and attained the rank of Wing Commander on 22
January 1992. He was promoted to the rank of
Group Captain on 22 January 1997, and in January
2002 he became an Air Commodore. He held this
rank till January 2005 when he was promoted to
the rank of Air Vice Marshal.
COURSES ATTENDED
Air Vice Marshall SI Awofodu has
attended several courses, both at home and
overseas. They include undergraduate Pilot
training at Lack Land Air Force Base, San
Antonio, USA, Instructor Pilot training at
Williams Air Force Base AFB Askansas, USA. He
also attended the Command and Staff Course at
Jaji-Kaduna and the National War College Course
at Abuja.
APPOINTMENTS
HELD
In the course of his career, Air
Vice Marshal SI Awofodu has held several
appointments. They include Squadron Pilot,
Operations Officer, Primary Flying Training Wing
Kaduna, Commanding officer 33 Squadron, Air
Transport Wing (Now 88 Military Air Lift Group),
and C-130H instructor pilot. He was at one time
the Director of Safety, and MPRI liaison
officer. He was the Commander 88 Military Air
Left Group, the position he held till his
appointment as the Air officer Inspection at the
Headquarters Nigerian Air Force. He is
presently the Air Officer Administration at
Headquarters Nigerian Air Force.
HONOURS AND AWARDS
Air Vice Marshal SI Awofodu has
been honoured with the following awards: Forces
Services Star, Meritorious Service Star,
Distinguished Service Star and Pass Staff
College. He is a fellow of the National War
College.
FAMILY DATA/HOBBIES
Air Vice Marshal Awofodu is
married and is blessed with 5 children. He
enjoys cycling and reading.
