AVM Adekunle Awarun was born in
OKE-ERI, Yagba West LGA of Kogi State on 25 July
1953. He started his Primary Education at OKE-
ERI but later moved with his parents to ODO-ERE,
a nearby town, where he completed his Primary
Education. He was at Titcombe College, Egbe
Yagba West LGA for his Secondary Education from
1967 to 1971.
MILITARY CAREER
AVM A Awarun joined the Nigerian
Air Force through the Nigerian Defence Academy
Kaduna as a member of the 13th Regular Course in
January 1973. He was commissioned into the
Nigerian Air Force as a Second Lieutenant in
December 1975, promoted to Sqn Ldr in July 86,
Gp Capt in July 96, Air Cdre on 2 July 2001 and
AVM on 2 Jan 2005.
Training
The A VM attended the Initial Supply Officers
Course, Royal Air Force, Hereford, UK in 1976
and the Supply and Material Management Course
with the Crown Agents, UK in 1981. He qualified
as an Instructor after attending the Skills and
Techniques of Training Course also with the
Crown Agents, UK in 1981. The air officer was a
member of course 12, Armed Forces Command and
Staff College Jaji in 1989/90; and was awarded a
prize for the best air power project article. He
was a member of the National War College Abuja,
Course 10. AVM Awarun attended the University of
Lagos in 1996 and the University of Ibadan in
2002/2003 for Advanced Diploma in Operational
Research and Master of Science Degree in
Strategic Studies respectively.
Deployment
AVM Awarun was at the NAF Flying
Training Group Kano from Jan 1977 to 1979 as a
Supply Officer. He was also an instructor in the
Technical and Supply School, Nigerian Air Force
Kaduna from 1979 to 1983. He was Staff Officer 1
and 2 in the Directorate of Supply, HQ NAF at
different times. The AVM was the Commanding
Officer, Logistics Management School, Technical
Training Group, Nigerian Air Force Kaduna from
1990 to 1993; Command Supply Officer at the
Headquarters, Logistics Command Nigerian Air
Force Ikeja from 1997 to 1998. He became the
Director of Supply at the Headquarters, Nigerian
Air Force from 1998 to 2001.
The air officer was appointed
Commander, of the prestigious 320 Technical
Training Group, Kaduna from February 2003 to
July 2007 and appointed the Air Officer
Commanding Logistics Command Ikeja on 30 July
2007.
AWARDS
AVM Adekunle Awarun was awarded
pass staff course, Meritorious Services Staff,
Distinguished Services Star and Fellow War
College. He holds a Master of Science Degree in
Strategic Studies. He is a member of the
Nigerian Institute of Management and member
Nigerian Chartered Institute of Purchasing and
Supply Management.

His hobbies include swimming,
walking, watching nature and inspiring others
for godly living.
FAMILY
The air officer is married to
Beatrice and they are blessed with 4 children.
