Air Vice Marshal Olufemi Faloyin
was born in Ile Ife, Osun State. Between 1966
and 1971, he attended Olivet High School Oyo and
Comprehensive High School, Aiyetoro for his ‘O’
and ‘A’ level education, respectively. He was
enlisted into the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) as a
potential Pilot on 3 January 1973 and was
commissioned as a 2/LT (Pilot Officer) on 3 June
1975.
PROMOTION LADDER
Pilot Officer Olufemi Faloyin was
promoted to the rank of Flying Officer on 22
January 1977 and, 4 years latter, on 22 January
1981, he was elevated to the rank of Flight
Lieutenant. He became a Squadron Leader in July
1985 and rose to the rank of Wing Commander, 5
years later, on 22 January 1991. He attained
the rank of Group Captain in January 1996 and
was elevated to the rank of Air Commodore in
January 2001. On 22 January 2004 Air Commodore
Olufemi Faloyin was promoted to the rank of Air
Vice Marshal.
COURSES ATTENDED
Air Vice Marshal Faloyin has
attended several military and professional
courses both locally and internationally. They
include Ab-initio (primary) flying training at
the Primary Flying Training Wing (now 301 FTS)
Kaduna – Jul 1973 – Jul 1974; United State Air
Force Undergraduate Pilot Training – Aug 1974 –
Dec 1975 and Qualified Flying Instructor’s
Course, Parkistan Air Force – Feb – Jun 1980.
Other courses are; Royal Air Force Senior Staff
Course, Bracknell UK – 1987, Defence Resource
Management Course, US Naval Post Graduate
College, Monterey, California – 1991 and
National War College, Nigeria, Course 7 – 1998 –
1999.
APPOINTMENTS HELD
Air Vice Marshal Olufemi Faloyin
has held several appointments. They include;
Commanding Officer, 21 Operational Conversion
Unit (OCU) at 64 Air Defence Group in Makurdi,
Commander NAF Station Maiduguri, Defence
Adviser, Washington DC, USA. He was the
Commander NAF Air Defence Group, Markurdi,
Director of Operation at the Headquarters
Nigerian Air Force and Senior Air Staff
Officer, Tactical Air Command He has served as a
Directing Staff at the National War College
Abuja. He was the Air Officer Commanding
Training Command, Kaduna until his present
appointment as the Air Officer Operations,
Headquarters Nigerian Air Force.
HONOURS AND AWARDS
Air Vice Marshal Olufemi Faloyin
has made immense contributions to the defence of
the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the
nation. He has flown several aircraft in the
Course of his career some of which are; Piaggio
149D, Bulldog 123S, T-41, T-37, T-38, MIG 15 and
MIG 17. He also flew the MIG 21 as a quadroon
fighter pilot as well as a flying instructor.
He has equally trained many fighter pilots
thereby contributing to the NAF’s combat
effectiveness
In recognition of his outstanding
contributions, he is a recipient of the
following honours and awards; Force Service
Star, Meritorious Service Star, and
Distinguished Service Star. Air Vice Marshal
Olufemi Faloyin is a fellow of the National War
College (fwc). As a participant of Course 7, at
the National war College, he won the Inspector
General of Police prize for the best paper on
Internal Security; the Chief of the Air Staff
prize for the best Airpower paper, and the
Commander – in- Chief prize for the best course
participant.
FAMILY DATA/HOBBIES
Air Vice Marshal Olufemi Faloyin
is married to Tosin Okwesa and is blessed with 4
children. His hobbies include reading, listening
to contemporary jazz music, visiting and
exploring new places and writing
