Air Vice Marshal Istifanus Danbauchi was born on 21 June 1952 in Toro Local Government in Bauchi State. He was enlisted into the Nigerian Air Force on 2 July 1973. He had his initial military training at the Nigerian Defence Academy and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant (Pilot Officer) on 20 December 1975.

PROMOTION LADER

Pilot Officer Istifanus Danbauchi was promoted to the rank of Flying Officer on 2 January 1978 and, 4 years latter, on 2 January 1982, was elevated to the rank of Flight Lieutenant.  He became a Squadron Leader in January 1987 and rose to the rank of Wing Commander, 5 years later, on 2 January 1992.  He attained the rank of Group Captain in January 1997 and was elevated to the rank of an Air Commodore, in January 2002. He was promoted to his present rank of Air Vice Marshal on 4 December 2006.
 

COURSES ATTENDED/QUALIFICATIONS

Air Vice Marshal Danbauchi has attended several courses, both military and civil. They include: Undergraduate Pilot Training in 1975, Undergraduate Navigation Training in 1978, and C-130 Conversion Course in 1980. Others are Junior and Senior Command and Staff Courses in 1982 and 1989 respectively. He also attended the National War College Course in 2001. Air Vice Marshal Danbauchi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. His other qualifications include LLB, MSc in Strategy and MSc in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. Air Vice Marshal Danbauchi is a Navigator by trade and has over 5,000 flying hours and has visited 55 countries in the course of his duty.

APPOINTMENTS HELD

Air Vice Marshal Danbauchi has held several appointments in the course of his career. They include: Staff Officer Grade 1 (P1) Directorate of Personnel, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force ( HQ NAF), Directing Staff and Chief Instructor at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Director of Manuals at HQ NAF, Director of Personnel at HQ NAF, Director of Personnel Management, also at HQ NAF and Director, Department of Air Warfare at the AFCSC, Jaji. He is presently the Air Secretary.

HONOURS AND AWARDS

Air Vice Marshal Danbauchi holds the following honours and awards: Forces Service Star, Meritorious Service Star, Distinguished Service Star and Pass Staff Course (psc +). Air Vice Marshal Danbauchi is a fellow of the National War College (fwc).
